Tinley Tee & Love Me Knot Shorts Blog Tour and Giveaway

Our dear friend Chelsea over at GYCT Designs is  showing off two amazing patterns with a blog tour. The Tinley Tee and the Love Me Knot shorts! Both patterns are super cute alone, as well as great together. Knot only that, (see what I did there) they are super easy sews! The only problem with that is now I want to make Princess B  one of each for every day of the week! Take a look at what I did with the patterns. I was given these patterns for free in participation of the tour, but you can win and/or buy these patterns yourself! Check out the bottom of the post to see how.

The Tinley tee has multiple option on the hem and the sleeves. I was going to do a bubble cap sleeve and show you a tutorial… look for that post to come soon… but when I saw you can add a banded hem on the bottom, I knew I wanted to do a banded sleeve as well.  Tinley Tee & Love Me Knot Shorts Blog Tour and Giveaway {{Friends Stitched Together}}

  I picked up this cute distressed purple polka dot knit from JoAnn’s wanting to use it as the lining of my Mystery Challenge post, check that out here! I thought it would be too busy, so I saved it for this instead!

  How I modified it, was taking the normal short sleeve pattern and cutting off a half an inch from the hem. I then cut out  two 1 1/2 inch strips the same width as the bottom of the sleeve. *Make sure to cut the band with the stretch or it will not stretch enough to fit.* With wrong sides together you sew the band to the hem of the sleeve just like you would do the hem of the shirt and the banding at the collar.

I love the way the banded hem and sleeve looks together! The other thing I did different was on the Love Me Knot shorts! I made my own biased tape and kept debating on wrapping the bias tape all the way around the  leg hem, but when I ran out of the tape I had made and the Princess had taken off with my left over fabric (I have still yet to find where she stashed it btw) my mind was made up for me! I used a pair of old jeans that my mother in law donated to my upcycle pile.

I debated long and hard if I was going to do a ruffle and just band it with some of the jean material, but little chunkers, I mean little Princess, has chunky thighs and she didn’t like how tight it was when I tried them on her. she kept pulling at them, so again my mind was made up for me! She just turned one (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and already has a mind of her own with her clothes! I thought I still had a couple more years. Mr. M is almost 4 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and he would wear a paper sack if I asked him! hahaha

Before the Princess took off with my extra fabric I did get the banding of the shorts and the pockets cut out in the same material as the bias tape. This was just a fat quarter I have had in my stash forever!

The elastic banding on the back of the Love Me Knot shorts make this so versatile! It can be made in practically any fabric! Again, because of the ease of these shorts, I am going to be making Princess B many more of these as she grows!

Before I get to the giveaway and the coupon code I will share one more cute picture, this was captured moments before Princess tripped over thin air (she gets her grace from me) and scrapped open her chin, there is still a layer or two of her skin on that bench. She bit through the tip of her tongue and a shoe some how flew off!! There were screams and blood as far as the eyes and ears could fathom… and then when she realized her shoe was in the grass and not on her foot anymore. she was completely distracted and amazed! Hahaha her grace from mommy, her distractibility from daddy!Tinley Tee & Love Me Knot Shorts Blog Tour and Giveaway {{Friends Stitched Together}}
