Timmy Top Pattern Release

I’m so excited to be able to call myself a pattern designer now! My first garment pattern is the Timmy Top and available now :) And to celebrate, it’s 30% until 5/25/15! No coupon necessary for Craftsy – for Etsy use the coupon code “TIMMYTOP” at checkout. I’m also giving away a pattern (scroll to the end of the post – if you purchase the pattern and win it, I’ll refund your money or send it on to a friend of your choice).

I’m participating in the Aspiring Designer’s Challenge hosted by the Betties Basket and Pattern Revolution blogs – be sure to check them out for all the other new patterns being released!

This is the finalized version of this shirt I made for Tim last year, back when I had no idea what I was doing! The shirt now features front and back yokes – the front yoke has an optional stripe detail that adds so much personality.

The little cargo pockets are another fun detail and the tops of the flaps are inserted into the front yoke. In fact, the inside finish is as clean as I could get it, with only the armscye and side seams needing to be finished!

My testers were amazing! They worked hard to help me get all the details perfect and even convinced me to add layers to the pattern pieces – that’s right! You can print just the size you need! The instructions are accompanied by detailed illustrations, which may have been my favorite part of the whole thing ;)

There is a pleat in the back bodice, giving plenty of room to move around in.

I think this piping in the yoke seam may be one of my favorite details!!!

I originally drafted the pattern using boy measurements (sizes 2-14!), but we found in testing that it also works great for girls (just be sure to check the measurement chart carefully!).

The long sleeves have a very easy two-piece placket and the collar stand is a separate piece – more great places to add some contrast!

I seriously can’t get over how awesome these all turned out! Maybe it’s just cause it’s my first garment pattern, but I do a little happy dance every time I see a new version :)

Congratulations on your first garment pattern, what an accomplishment! Ever since you did that trench coat in your inspector gadget look for your son I’ve been hoping for a pattern, so I’m putting in a request for that in the future!

You made a wonderful pattern for little boys! Wish I had that one back when my boys were young! Great job and Congratulations!
