I didn’t end up sewing for last week’s Project Sewn Challenge (Style Icon) – partly cause I don’t have one and partly cause I was busy last week! Funny how this little thing called life can get in the way :P This was also supposed to be yesterday’s post, but when Andy got home, he took John sledding and by the time they got back, it was too dark for pictures. So we have two posts for you today – you can see Tasha’s yummy Turkey Goulash right here :)
So here is this week’s Think Pink look!
I made a Penelope Peplum top – this is my first one and I love it! I used a lightweight coral-y pink knit from Fabric.com and it’s slightly sheer, so I’ve been wearing a cami underneath (and you better believe it’s the suck-it-in kind!).
I really like how it looks with a belt! I’m definitely going to try the dress version soon.
For the skirt I used this pattern. I didn’t bother hunting down the actual instructions as it’s a fairly basic wrap skirt.
The gray stretch twill is from Hobby Lobby and is really hard to get a good picture of by itself! I added a lace edge to the side and some lace covered buttons for the pleats on the front. The pleats were one detail I kept from the original pattern and I love it! It gives the front more interest than just a wrap skirt.
This is actually a faux wrap since I made a lace covered waistband and the buttons keep it closed for modesty – a certain child thinks it’s funny to pull on my clothes…
I added elastic in the back of the waist to make sure it fit. And I added welt pockets to the back (pointed out by my lovely assistant) just the right size for my phone!
All the lace is laid over a white broadcloth to make it show up more.
Thanks for checking out my pink look!
