A month ago, I got to test the newest pattern from Melly Sews – the W Shorts (or pants, or capris). They are so cute and have some nice detailing including an inverted yoke on the back and welt pockets.
The best part is how quick they were! I managed to print, sew, and put in all the zippers during one two-hour naptime! And this was during the nine-months-pregnant-exhausted-haze (I had Tim five days later!). I like the shorts length – a lot of John’s shorts are so long that he constantly trips on them. I’m considering buying him kneepads and making him wear them ALL the time!
Of course, by the time I got John in them and bribed with a Nutter Butter – seriously, dude, is it too much to ask to hold still for three minutes?! – I realized I had left the camera in the other room, so I only got iPhone pics of them on him…
And about one minute after leaving his room, he had them filthy. Please tell me I’m not the only one with a PigPen child! His Gramma just got the boy these shirts:
(Also – how cute are these two? John thought it was sooo funny that Bean tried to pick his nose) Because the boy will play in sand all day. He basically showers in it. It’s ridiculous.
Tangent aside, I love these shorts! They also have real belt loops, functional fly (which she makes so easy!), and the option for a zipper pocket on the back.
They’re available now from the Pattern Anthology as part of the Alphabet Collection for a huge discount! Check it out!
