What do you make when you only have a couple potatoes left from a big bag?? There isn’t really enough to make a side for dinner, so I did something I haven’t done in a long time…. I opened up my recipe book! I know GASP!!! We don’t have recipe books anymore with things like Pinterest in existence now a days, but before Pinterest I would print out recipes I liked and make them to see if they were worth wasting my precious printer ink on. That is when I stumbled upon an old Martha Stewart recipe for baked chips. Only I didn’t want chips, so I thought to myself, “Self… how easy would it be to take this same recipe and make fries??” I responded with, “Probably pretty easy, let’s give it a try!!!”
Yes I do happen to talk to myself, but you stay home with a three year old that only speaks power ranger and a 3 month old that coos when she has gas and you too will be talking with yourself!
~Seasoning Salt and/or Red Robin seasoning
~ Granulated Garlic and/or garlic powder
So the first step is preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Next grab a bowl and add a splash of vegetable oil. If you literally splash it into the bowl your next step would be to clean up the counter top, then add your salt, pepper, and other spices. She says to use cayenne pepper, but because I was going to be sharing these with Mr. M and he doesn’t like spicy, I used Red Robin seasoning! Sooo good!! And a nice helping of granulated garlic!
I used yellow potatoes, because I love a good crispy skin on a fry and I’m lazy and don’t like to peel potatoes!
Lay flat on a foiled sheet and then bake for 15 minutes.
They are ridiculously delicious! Like no joke, you don’t even need any sort of dipping sauce!! Even Mr. M. who will not eat any sort of fry/nugget/tater tot/ etc. without ranch, ate a whole plate full of these without anything!!
