Hi everyone! I am Michelle and you can find me over at Falafel and the Bee.

For my Star Wars inspired outfit, I chose Princess Leia…because PRINCESS LEIA.

She is a strong woman AND a princess, has rockin’ buns, she fights as good as the guys, and she kissed her brother. Wait, what? OK that part really has always grossed me out, but in her defense, Luke was cute, and she didn’t know. Right?

Original Trilogy - Princess Leia 17

Moving on.

Here’s what I made for my youngest:

I started with the Short Sleeve Raglan Tee from the Sewing for Boys book and made some obvious changes. The first one is that I lengthened the sleeves and gave them silver cuffs. I also made it dress-length and added a sliver kangaroo pocket (out of dancewear knit). I also thought it needed a hood, so I added one of those too. This was the first time I have ever sewn raglan sleeves before, and this pattern made it easy! They even have French Seams.

Next I whipped up a pair of stretch leggings using Go-To leggings. I wanted to mimic the bagginess of Princess Leia’s dress by ruching the legs.

I added a fun little stamped and drawn tag inside.

Yup. They were made by the Force.

Shall we talk about those shoes? Well, Princess Leia has a little secret.

She is “Daddy’s Little Princess“, and her Dad just happens to be THE Darth Vader. I hand painted both designs on in white paint.

Anyhow, she doesn’t know that, and she is concealing a message in this R2 unit for Obi-Wan Kenobi to go against her Dad (cause he is evil).

Which brings me to this bag! I winged it with this one. I came up with a bag pattern, sewed it together, then free-hand painted on R2-D2 (on both sides).

If you would like to see some more detailed photos, you can check them out on my blog! Thanks for having me! I had a blast(er)!

Wow you guys! I am sooo glad I don’t have to judge these looks! Can you believe those shoes? And that bag? And the buns? I love it!

If you want in on the action, we’re looking for bloggers both big and small to compete, guest post, and write tutorials for our next season. Sign up here to be considered! The winners of the sew along will get the Matinee Dress from Jennuine Designs, the Cherry Pie skirt from Pie Pie Designs, the Saffron Twirl dress from Paisley Roots, and a pattern of their choice from Muse of the Morning. If there are enough entries, we will pick more than one winner and divide the pattern prizes. Rules for the link up: Enter anything fiber-related and Star Wars themed from the past year. There is no limit to how many posts you can link up, but adding more won’t increase your chances of winning – in other words, you can enter fifteen looks, but will only be entered to win once. The contestants for this month are allowed to enter anything they’ve done that’s Star Wars related, but are not eligible to win – however, our guest posters can enter their posts and are eligible to win. I can’t wait to see what you’ve all made! [inlinkz_linkup id=421170 mode=1]

Nailed it! Especially with the cross body bag! That much white makes me twitch, but I have two boys that can’t stay clean for seven seconds straight.

    Way to go!
