Sew Americana

I love the Fourth of July. It’s probably my second-favorite holiday after Thanksgiving and closely followed by Halloween ;) Katy has organized a super-fun Americana tour this week and I was so excited! Unfortunately, Tim got a stomach bug this weekend and as soon as he got feeling better, I got it too… You’d think I’d have learned my lesson about procrastinating til the last weekend by now! Oh well – better a little late than never at all, right?

Sew Americana Tour - Friends Stitched TogetherI decided to do a fun superhero shoot with Tim for his third birthday. He was so sick the actual day of his birthday – at least this way he’ll have some good memories, too!

Sew Americana Tour - Friends Stitched Together - Captain Underpants Briefs from Momma Quail PatternsI’ve been working on a boy’s briefs pattern for a while now (it’s not out yet because I decided to extend it to men’s sizes – this will be my first men’s pattern and it’s a little nerve wracking!) and made a red and navy pair for Tim. I did use white thread, so they are actually red, white, and blue. It’s a little hard to see in the pictures, but I think Tim is white enough to count ;)

Hey! I heard that, Mom – you forgot about my super-hearing again

He’s at that point where most of his poses involve copying Big Brother and today, Big Brother was mostly pointing and standing with his hands on his hips.

The cape is a simple self-drafted shape made from the same large tee shirt as the briefs and bound with bias tape. He will not take it off! The mask was a last second (literally) addition, so it doesn’t fit the best, but he pushed it up and has been wearing it as a headband instead.

I should have taken the diaper off just before – I didn’t realize how much it was sticking out of the undies! Lol!

Sew Americana Tour - Friends Stitched Together - Captain Underpants Briefs from Momma Quail PatternsBe sure to keep an eye out for the release in a few days and a Happy Fourth sale on all Momma Quail Patterns! In the meantime, be sure to see all the amazing Americana being shared this week – I’ve seen some sneak peeks and they are pretty awesome! Tim will be watching to make sure you do ;)

So cute! I can’t even imagine trying to tackle undies, much less in the mens sizes as well. Good luck! I love your little super post here. Tim is adorable!

This is so cute. I’m sitting in the doctor’s office, laughing my head off. You should see everyone turning around looking at me.
