Kymy over at EYMM has kicked off a super fun holiday blog tour showcasing her great pattern The Kenzie Party Dress and Skirt.
This pattern has many options that are just super stinking adorable! You can make it a simple dress or simple skirt, you can make a layered “flouncey” skirt or dress, you can make it with a big bow, or a sash or you can do what I did and take the basics of it all and make it your own…. with KNIT!! Here is what I did differently. First off I made the back a solid piece. Because of the stretch of the knit there is no need for buttons. Don’t get me wrong I love my buttons and snaps, but I was looking for a way to change this up a bit. I have had this double sided knit for a while, one side dots the other stripes. I knew I wanted to use that for the bodice. It was a hard choice between the light purple and the bright blue I had that is double sided, but when in doubt I always say choose purple! I liked the back just the way it is so I didn’t bring the back up at all. I added a binding around the neckline all the way around. You measure your finished bodice and you can take an half an inch to a whole inch off the size if you want, but because I wanted mine to hang on her loosely (so we can put a long sleeve on her later on underneath if need be) so I stuck to the measurements. Because this is a Holiday theme and this is right between Halloween and Thanksgiving I wanted to pick fall-ish colors. I stuck to jewel tones. While piecing it all together my husband came in and says, “Oh is this going to be Beastly’s (side note Princess B’s new nickname is Beastly because well… self explanatory she is a beast! Don’t believe me wait until the end when you see a good out take and then you decide!) costume?” I replied utterly in shock absolutely not and asked why he thought so. He said it looked like a rainbow pirate outfit! Once the words were spoken that is all I could see while finishing up her outfit. Beastly has been OBSESSESED with her new sparkly boots, so when I wrangled her to get her pictures taken (practically everyday for almost a week btw!!! So here is my apology for the pictures, these were the absolute best ones I could get) she would shove the boots in my face and say on with her smelly little piggies in my face! With the boots on it looked more like a pirate than ever! If I put an eye patch on her and a parrot on her shoulder it was have been the real deal! Before we get to the ever so exciting giveaway I wanted to share with you my two favorite pictures from the photos I had taken of Beastly and why this is now her name…. ENJOY! This one says “Why is no one swabbing the poop deck like I requested!?!?!?!?!” And then there was this one…. “If you take one more picture mother, I am going to bite you and then throw you overboard!” There is a Rafflecopter giveaway prizes total $125 and include $50 EYMM gift certificate, Stitchbox Monthly November Sewing Box ($35 value), $25 EYMM gift certificate, and a Little Lady Sheet of Jamberry Juniors Nail Wraps ($15 retail). And if you link up your outfit there are more chances to win!
