PR&P Week 1

I love Project Run and Play! How fun is it to see all the different participants and all their different takes on the same themes?! This is the first season since I discovered it that I’ve actually had the time/energy to sew along.

This week is the pattern remix of the Oliver + S Popover Dress. As a mom to two boys, I don’t get to sew girly stuff all that often, but fortunately, I have three nieces who have no problem modelling for me!

This is the youngest – Abby – and she loves this dress!

I used a mustard yellow ruffle fabric from Girl Charlee and a Navy broadcloth that I had on hand. I love pretty much every color paired with Navy. It’s the ultimate chameleon in my opinion. I also used a little bit of green piping around the neckline and on the pocket (which is self-drafted with ruffles in the center and a big wood button).

It turned out just perfect for twirling!

She showed it off to everyone until it was time to put her swimsuit back on and get in the boat. My sister-in-law told me later she wore it for days -in my opinion, that is the highest praise anything I make can get!

I also used one of the fancy stitchs on my machine to sew the hem with the same pattern that’s on the button.

My darling child doesn’t really like it when someone else is the center of my camera’s attention. Here’s the first picture before I cropped it:

He decided he needed to do some twirls and modelling, too!

Silly little man…
