Perfect Pattern Parcel Post 1

These last couple weeks of August are all about the boys on the blog! I have three dates on the Perfect Pattern Parcel Inspiration Tour (plus the Bundle Up tour)! Why? Because boy sewing is my thing and I love to promote it all I can :)

Pattern Parcel #4 includes:
Maxwell Top by Shwin Designs
Zippy Jacket by Blank Slate Patterns
Schoolboy Vest by Sew Much Ado
Small Fry Jeans by Titchy Threads
Jet Pack Bag by Betz White

Bonus Pattern:
Choose a price of $26 or greater for Parcel #4 and you will automatically also be sent the Bonus Pattern! The Bonus Pattern for this Parcel is Knight Hoodie by Charming Doodle. This pattern is a unique and fun spin on the traditional hoodie. Thorough instructions and pictures help you create an amazing and memorable hoodie that will inspire creativity in your little one.

I received these patterns for free in exchange for testing and posting for the tour, but all opinions are my own.

I’ve you know me (if not, hi!) you know how much I love the Small Fry Skinny Jeans! I got to test them and have been addicted ever since (seriously – and these are just the blogged ones!). Shauna is also one of my favorite designers – I knew I was going to love the Maxwell Top, so I picked these two for my first post. As you can see, I made coordinating outfits for my two boys, but John is a much better model right now than Timmy, so the detail shots are of him.

The Maxwell is a button (or snap!) up shirt with a fun tab closure for the top button. The back is yoked and the perfect place for a coordinating print.

As always, Shauna’s instructions are excellent and easy to understand. The pattern is well-written and well-drafted and surprisingly quick for a button-up shirt!

Obviously, I’m a huge fan of the Skinnies. The pattern includes flat-felled seams in the legs and crotch, full or half-fly options, two front pocket options, back yokes, buttonhole elastic, and real belt loops! The second I finished my first pair, I was showing it off to everyone who was (or wasn’t) interested – I couldn’t believe I’d actually made a pair of jeans that didn’t look homemade! P.S. – no serger here! I do them all on my regular machine!

In fact, the only problem I have with them now, is that after twenty-something full-zip flies, I don’t get nearly as excited when they work out perfectly :P

One of my favorite modifications is to add a contrast panel to the back of the pants. When I use something that has the same weight as the denim, I make two panels, but when using quilting cotton (like I did here) I just lay it over the denim and satin stitch the raw edge.

About Pattern Parcel:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we’ve raised $9,800 towards eliminating educational inequality.

It’s such an amazing pattern Jonie – you’ll love it! Around here, a lot of the senior center thrift stores have zippers for like 30 cents a piece ;)

Tell me about it – I need that reminder some days! I always thought dressing twins the same was a little silly, but now that I have the two boys, I kinda want to coordinate all their outfits… :)
