Otium Tour

I actually tested the Women’s Otium Pattern from Sofiljantes, and I had already made two when I was asked to join the tour – instead of using them, I decided to make two more :) If that doesn’t show how much I love this pattern, I don’t know what will! It fits like a comfortable tee shirt, but the bow on the back (which is my favorite view) classes it up and makes it really stand out.

For the first one, I used this super slinky pink fabric from JoAnn’s. I knew exactly which direction I wanted to go with it, but the only dark blue fabric I had in my stash didn’t have as much of a stretch. So all the wrinkles around the neckline are totally my fault, and not the patterns!

That’s right. I TARDISed my tee shirt. It is still Doctor Who month, after all! I also shaped the bow with pleats instead of gathering and tacked it down with some hand stitching – because, you know…

Bowties are cool. Duh.

I measure for, and made, size XXL. The pattern is loose enough I probably could have gone down a size, but I like the comfy fit, so this is the size I’m sticking with for now! I do really want to try one in sweatshirt fleece with the long sleeves – I think that would be so cozy!

I know my TARDIS is a little wonky. Like I said, the fabric was really slinky and didn’t want to stay put!

I really like the wide band at the bottom – it gives enough shape that you don’t feel like you’re wearing a sack. And, most important, it’s flattering while still being comfortable!
My second shirt I made from a men’s 3XL shirt. I love being able to get a shirt for myself from a clearance tee! Upcycling isn’t just for kid’s clothes :)

And, possibly my favorite feature of all my Otiums so far, I used lace for this bow! I’m calling this picture “My Husband didn’t Tell Me My Bra Straps were Showing and that the Back was Wrinkled”. Catchy huh? Although, having the straps there means you can actually see the lace!

I sincerely recommend this pattern – but don’t take just my word for it! Check out the rest of the stops on the tour!
