We have one of our good friends sharing her mini Effie look today for our Hunger Games month. We use Chelsea’s patterns all the time (for everything from a tiger shirt to a Wendy costume) and she was part of our blog tour SIX months ago!
Hello, I’m Chelsea from GYCT Designs. I have really enjoyed following along with the Crafting Con competition so far. I am super excited to be part of this month’s Hunger Games Theme. I totally LOVE the Hunger Games. I started the series in 2008 when the first book came out. Fell in love and never looked back.
When deciding what I wanted to put together for this competition, I really wanted to try making an Effie Trinket look. First because I thought it would be a challenge, but second, because I love Effie. She might be a little “effected” because of her Capitol upbringing. But she does show she is human in the second novel.
To make a toddler into Effie was a little tricky. Plus, the idea behind Crafting Con is to make something wearable. Not just crazy. So I decided to make the best look I would need bold colors, loads of ruffles and BIG flowers.
So I started by picking my fabrics. I used pinks because we know that Effie is great in pink. I also found this great neon green striped fabric that I just feel in love with . For the patterns I used the GYCT Designs Tinley Tee, the cardigan is Peekaboo Patterns V-Neck Cardigan, and the skirt I self drafted.
Now let’s talk accessories. For the flower on her shirt, I used THIS tutorial. It is a removable flower. Just pinned on but can be taken off and added to other shirts or jackets. Her hair flower is the Camellia Flower Tutorial from Sew McCool. Now I will admit I am not a huge fan of giant flowers on toddlers heads, but for Effie, it had better be a big flower!
Baby girl seems to enjoy it. She really loves all the ruffles and those flowers. I had a lot of fun with this month’s challenge. Thanks for having me!!
Could this be any cuter? I knew as soon as Chelsea said she wanted to do a toddler Effie look that she was going to nail it – and she did!
