My friend Stephanie specializes in toy patterns and she does such a great job of coming up with fun, clever designs! I’m joining in on her blog tour this week with my version of the Little Driver Wheel pattern. In case you need to stock up on softie patterns before Christmas, you can use the coupon code ‘SewAllTheSofties’ for 40% off all patterns, expiring Sunday 11/16 – valid both on Etsy & on Swoodsonsays.com.
I’ve already made the backpack and the camera and palette (which I didn’t blog about, apparently), and just like those patterns, this one includes lots of tips and practical ideas to make the most of it!
My biggest issue was stuffing the thing. Stephanie’s instructions are great, I’m just not a fan of stuffing toys in the first place and trying to get the circle even was driving me nuts. Then I realized it’s a toy and is going to get manhandled and misshapen anyways and gave up on perfection ;)
I had these little scraps of pintucked pleather from another project I’m working on (Daddy’s getting a moto jacket! It’s either going to be awesome or awesomely ridiculous!) and added them to the sides. My idea was to mimic how steering wheels are textured differently in different areas.
A giveaway running all week, to win all 4 Swoodson Says patterns:
