Project Run & Play Week Two
This is absolutely the week I’m most excited for! Let’s see if you can guess what movie I went for:
Got it? How about this:
Princess Bride it is! I watched that movie every.chance.I.got growing up, especially at slumber parties. I can still quote the whole thing. Drives Andy crazy when I watch it now! And it will probably drive you crazy cause I’m going to use every quote that’s even slightly relevant. It runs in the family. My uncle (he’s got a page on Wikipedia where he looks very serious and official) has officiated at all the weddings of me and my cousins. At every rehearsal he starts off “Mawwige. Mawwige is what bwings us togefer today. That bwessed awwangement. That dweam wifin a dweam.” Inconceivable!
You can’t have the Princess Bride without the Dread Pirate Roberts!
The sweater is the Charlie hoodie in a knit from Fabric.com. It’s almost the exact color as Buttercup’s absurd head-to-toe red riding outfit. At the beginning of the movie,
Peter Falk Colombo comes to read a book to his sick grandson. They get to the part where Wesley is killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts and the boy interrupts with “Murdered by pirates is good.” I think that phrase sums up little boys better than anything!
The shirt started as the Prepster Pullover. I left off the collar and added a facing to the front for the cutout. The sleeves have a rib knit cuff to make them blousier. I used a stretch twill from Hobby Lobby for both the shirts and pants.
The pants are (surprise!) Small Fry Skinnies. I topstitched in green to add a little bit of color. Solid black was just a bit too overwhelming for a 2.5 year old!
I had a little fun with the pockets, since they are pirate pants.
And inside the front pockets, a little pirate surprise:
For the mask, I used this template but used two layers of knit. The little “do-rag” is a scrap of knit.
He thought he was Batman.
And now I’m just going to load you up with pics and quotes :)
“Goodnight Wesley. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.”
