Hooded Animal Scarf + A Giveaway!

If you’re here from SewMamaSew, welcome and thanks for stopping by!

Hooded Animal Scarf

These are my latest project – hooded scarves with animal ears! Some people call them scoodies – I did when I first started them, but now the name makes me cringe. It sounds like something in my toddler’s underwear…

Yes, John, I am talking about your pooties on the Internet. Sorry Bud.

They are fleece on the outside with SUPER soft minky (seriously, I get it from Fabric.com and I can’t even touch the stuff from Joann’s now because it feels so rough!) on the inside.

I added pockets on the outside of the scarf. John thinks they’re a great place to stash M&Ms or PEZ candies.

On a totally unrelated note, I got him an Iron Man PEZ dispenser and now I know why my mom rarely bought them for us growing up – those candies are a pain in the neck to get in there! And they’re gone in about five minutes – and that’s only if he takes time to try to share them with the dogs! Whose grand idea were those anyway? Probably not invented by a mom…

I put bear ears on this one. I love the brown with the unexpected apple green! 2013-12-09 08.57.46

Pardon the messy, messy house (that’s not even the worst of it!)

I also made one for my cousin’s little boy, modeled here on Bean:

It’s a raccoon, but I think it could do just as well as a gray fox! The baby size (really more like 0-2) has a slightly smaller hood and a skinnier, shorter scarf with no pockets, cause what are they going to go with them, anyway?

I think the next one will be white with pink minky and bunny ears. I have a feeling all my nieces and nephews will be getting these for Christmas :) I also have a teen/adult size in the works!

I’m planning on writing a tutorial for these soon, but for now, who wants to win one?! (They’re also available in my Etsy shop here.) In case you missed it somehow, SewMamaSew is hosting a GIGANTIC Giveaway Day! Just leave a comment to enter and I’ll pick a random winner on December 13th (hat will be shipped by the 20th)! Be sure and leave your email so I can get ahold of you by the 15th – I’m giving away the brown and green bear one, but if you’d really prefer different colors or ears, we can work that out to get you what you want :) I’m even prepared to ship international!

Be sure to head over to SewMamaSew to check out all the other great giveaways!

This is definitely one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen! I’d love to win it for my baby to use next winter!

Oh! Oh! Oh! My daughter saw a similar hat in Target, which I could not afford to buy her, and went absolutely gaga over it. I wonder if it’d fit her? She’s 5. Her little sister is 2, so I’m pretty sure it’d fit one of them… fingers crossed and thanks for the chance!

These are so darn cute! Would love a chance to win one for my son. And his tiny brother could use it after him, they look really cosy & warm on the picture, would be perfect for cold winter me thinks. :)

    Thanks for the giveaway!

Ps. My house is often worse at the end of the day… I often just scoop everything aside so I have at least a mess-free path in the middle, safe enough to walk through the house with a baby…

These are amazingly cute – my daughter would look adorable in one this winter. It is summer here in Australia so if I win you will have plenty of time to send one down here for her. I love the pockets, I am pretty sure my daughter would put rocks and dinosaurs in hers.

I have an autistic nephew that would love this! The minky on the inside would be wonderful for him to just pet to help settle his nerves and he loves having hats on his head.

Would love one! I just can’t tell what size it is. I only have two kids (my son or niece) I could give to so I would need either age 6ish size or age 18 mos -2 yrs size.
