I have a serious addiction to denim lately, so this week’s Project Run & Play denim theme has me pretty excited!
The dark wash denim and tribal print chambray are from JoAnn’s. I went in knowing which denim I wanted and hoping they had some chambray (since it’s technically a denim) with bright green on it – must have been my lucky day!
For the overalls, I used the legs of the Small Fry Skinny Jeans and drafted up the rest based on a pair of Tim’s that I like the look of. The back is my favorite part – the two sides lap over so the right leg becomes the left strap and vice versa.
It nearly broke my brain trying to get the angle perfect, but I did it!
The front has a faux fly and belt loops. The side pockets are lined with the chambray and go past the side seam towards the back. The bib pocket has a seam in the middle so I could get in more top stitching. The front waist band and side vents are also lined with the chambray so the inside is pretty, too :)
I also drafted the shirt. It’s a button-up (snap-up would be more accurate) with a curved shirttail hem, a collar with a collar stand, a back yoke, and a shoulder piece with fun little loops.
Everything is top stitched with a cream thread. I went through three spools of thread for this outfit!
The white snaps are from I Like Big Buttons and I used them for the shirt, too.
I love little boys in overalls, but store bought ones tend to be so baggy! I really like this slimmer fit!
And I’ll leave you with one of my favorite pictures. We were on vacation on the west side of Washington and this was his first time at the ocean. He had a blast :)
