Hi!  I’m Crystal from That’s What SHE Crafted and I’m super happy to compete in CraftingCon.  It’s princess month and my turn to bring the magic!  I’m following some tough acts, so hopefully my look rocks your fins.  I decided to take a different spin on this challenge and I hope you like what I’ve done.  So without further ado here’s my “Kiss dee Girl” CraftingCon look =)

We’ll start with the obvious and most princessy: Ariel in her “Out on the town” dress.  This is the casual, every-day, and current play dress version for the little princess in my life.  I mashed 3 patterns to get this look.  The bodice is the Nova by Popolok, the sleeves are from the Nelia by Popolok and the skirt is the Poppy by Create KidsCouture.  Ariel’s dress was floor length, with a corset and puffy long sleeves.  I live in the desert in 2014…no.  Her dress got a modern and practical makeover while still being “Ariel” enough for my kid.

And because this princess was nothing without her friends and sidekicks, I added a bow with a nod to her fine feathered friend, Scuttle.

Speaking of her VERY important sidekicks…I couldn’t do this look without the most important pieces of the puzzle. Ariel would have never had her happily ever after without scuttle warning her of the sea witch’s plan and rounding up the sea creatures to lead the charge. She wouldn’t have realized her dreams if flounder hadn’t swum her to safety
while she clung to those barrels.  And if Sebastian hadn’t scurried for help from Ariel’s powerful Papa, she
would have been turned into just another piece of Ursula’s nasty garden of shriveled mermaid zombies.  So yes…there’s a place for all of them in this post.

I used the Nowhereman Pants by Shwin for my tribute to Sebastian.  Then I used the Greenpoint Cardigan by HeyJune for my shout out to the very non-guppy Flounder (This colorful version has always been my fave).  I couldn’t Narrow down a shirt to pair them with, so you get to see a lovely compilation of RTW randomness from my boy’s closet.

I also jokingly tried the Scuttle bow as a bowTIE and it apparently has mystical powers with the ability to summon Derek Zoolander.
Normally this is the part where I tell you to go check out our blog for more pictures…but my kids were turds and this is as good as I got, haha!  The rest are a bit like this.

Let every day be a princess kind of day and remember to always let your friends know you’d never be anywhere without them.  Here’s lookin’ at you Viever, Jenn and Karly (My fellow SHEs).  You guys can choose who’s who.

We know it’s hard to define the line where a princess dress becomes a costume, so we are opening the linky party to any and all Prince or Princess looks, Disney or otherwise! You’ll notice I said Prince – I’m planning on Beast and Prince Eric for my boys! The girls can’t have all the fun :) Have you made your daughter a Cinderella ballgown? Add it. Does your girl wear her upcycled tee with Elsa’s face on the front? Add it. Did you make your son a Prince Charming costume for Halloween? Add it! One lucky linker will win one pattern of their choice from some more of our favorite designers: Paisley Roots, Fabulous Home Sewn, Pie Pie Designs! What are you waiting for? Get linking!

Rules for the link up: Enter anything fiber-related and Prince- or Princess-themed from the past year (this means last Halloween counts!). There is no limit to how many posts you can link up, but adding more won’t increase your chances of winning – in other words, you can enter fifteen looks, but will only be entered to win once. The contestants for this month are allowed to enter anything they’ve done that fits the theme, but are not eligible to win – however, our guest posters can enter their posts and are eligible to win. I can’t wait to see what you’ve all made!

Don’t forget to grab a button!
