Challenge Create – Red, White, & Blue Fabric Swap

Today I get to share my look for Challenge Create – Fabric Swap, hosted by Skirt Fixation! I got the Red, White, & Blue theme, which worked out just fine for me! Growing up, my family was never big on giving or getting presents, so my favorite holidays are the ones where you get together with family or friends, have some good food or a BBQ, and just hang out. In case you can’t guess, Thanksgiving is my favorite, but the Fourth of July is right up there! My closest cousin and his wife usually come out for a vacation and we have a BBQ and watch the fireworks and just have a good time. Now that my little not-s0-little brother is a Marine, the Fourth is even more important to me!

Danica of The Sewing Sparrow sent me a yard each of White Sporty Cars and Sporty Tires on Red from the Riley Blake Speedsters collection. We’ve been following each other on Bloglovin’ for a while now, so she knew exactly what I would want! Check out my post on Skirt Fixation today to see just what John thought of his “birthday present” – you can also vote for your favorite of the four looks this week (7/7/14: Voting is now closed).

We were only allowed five pictures (plus a fabric pic) for our posts and let me tell you – it was so much harder than I thought it would be to choose just five! I’m posting some of the ones I couldn’t post there on here today :)

I used the Perfect Polo and Kudzu Cargoes for John’s outfit. You can read more details about them on my Challenge post.

I do want to mention how much I love this pocket though! I lined the cargo pocket so that when you do the clever side folds, a different fabric peeks out instead of the reverse of the main fabric. I’ve had the idea to do that for a while now and I love how it turned out!

In John’s opinion, all quilts are actually rugs for him to play on. Of course, he’s three, so it comes out as “brug”. Stephanie suggested he must mean a “bro rug”! Apparently he and all his bros can get together and hang out on their rugs together :)

Poor Timmy couldn’t understand why I kept picking him up and setting him across the lawn, then running back to take a few pictures before he crawled back over again.

John was not thrilled that someone was messing with his pictures…

And this cloud looked like a fish (I guess?), so John insisted on a picture…

Thanks for stopping by to see my Red, White, & Blue look! Be sure to go vote for your favorite look!
