We have also opened up the link party – now you can add projects inspired by any superhero, not just the Avengers!

Hi Friends Stitched Together Readers,

I am Scary from the Shaffer Sisters Trio.

My son and husband have always been Iron Man homeboys but I can’t stand his personality. I didn’t want to spend the time sewing something for a character that I hated. I am a big fan of Captain America fan, I like that he keeps his integrity when all others are loosing theirs. He never stops trying no matter what. These are the morals I hope to instill in my son. I hope that he grows up to make his own fate through hard work and determination.

I love the jackets that Captain America wears, they are masculine and timeless.  For this project I used the recently released P51 Jacket from Terra’s Treasures, available now as part of the Bundle Up Sale. This pattern is off the hook and was a great start for a Captain America Jacket. I love the asymmetrical zipper and the welted pockets. The only adjustments I made to jacket was to hand stitch the facing in and do faux leather on the collar.

It reminds me of the jacket in the opening scenes of Captain America: Winter Solider. Where Captain Steven Rogers is on his bike. I think that this jacket would help Steven Rogers make the perfect transition from the 1930s to the 2010s.

I would love to hear what your favorite Avenger is and why? Is there one that you can’t stand? My husband doesn’t care much for Thor but that might because of how much I adore Chris Hemsworth’s eyes and sweet smile?

Note: I would have loved to show you how awesome my son looks in this jacket but he was passed out tired from a family reunion. I couldn’t wake him up for the pictures so you will have to make due with my word that the fit is great. The first time he tried it on he said, “This is an awesome jacket mom, I look cool!” He then proceeded to do a headstand.

Thanks Scary! As I’ve mentioned before, I am so in love with all the jackets that Marvel has given the Cap :)

This month, Maegen and I will be making Avengers tee shirts for the giveaway winners! There will be two winners and we’ll coordinate sizes (3 months – 14) once they have been chosen.
