Shwin&Shwin are releasing three new patterns today and I got to test two of them :)
The Anna Top or Dress is based on the Maggie May and is such a fast sew (actually, they both are – I made mine one evening and John’s the next morning)! John wore his shirt three days in a row before I made him take it off to wash it. And all body image issues aside, I love my Anna Top! I’ve been wearing it around and really liking how I feel in it :)
I used a polyester something for the top yoke and a border print knit for the lower bodice – both from a thrift store.
The pattern can be made with either woven or knits, which worked out perfect since I had to turn the knit sideways to get the print right.
The top and sleeves are bound with bias tape. I used “Neon Red”, but I think it’s more of a bright coral. There is an optional button closure for the back, but I went without it. And there are darts in the bust area to make things fit for curves :)
The Helter Skelter has some unusual colorblocking and a big pocket on the front. It’s a pretty fun look :)
I’m addicted to the Anytime Tee, and I have a feeling this one will be used just as much!
